Sandbach outfit Speedworks Motorsport to race Ginetta G50

05/03/2010 - Sandbach-based squad Speedworks Motorsport has become the latest team to join the line-up for the 2010 Avon Tyres British GT Championship, after announcing that it will run a Ginetta G50 with local racers - and Oulton Park instructors - Jamie Stanley and Christian Dick at the wheel.

Cheshire-born Stanley graduates to British GTs following a dominant season in the Lotus on Track Elise Trophy, where he won 11 out of 15 races. He will partner Dick, who is Speedworks' team principal and has extensive experience of the machinery they will race this year following two seasons in the Ginetta G50 Cup.

"It's a natural step up for me after my success in the Lotus," said Stanley, who already has some GT racing experience after racing a Ferrari 430 in Britcar at Snetterton last year. "The Avon Tyres British GT Championship is an international-level series with a good reputation internationally. I'm confident that it is the best place for me to take the next step in my career with such strong support from FOX International."

"It's a great move for the team to be racing in a major international championship," Dick added. "It's a competitive series with a lot of strong drivers and teams, but the team has had an enormous amount of experience and success in running the Ginetta G50, and Jamie is a strong driver, so we hope to be fighting for race wins and the title."

Oulton Park will host the opening round of the British GT Championship over Easter weekend in a joint headline meeting with the Cooper Tires British F3 Series.

There will be two hour-long GT races on Easter Monday, both of which will feature exciting compulsory pit stops and driver swaps. Other famous marques that have already entered this year's competition include Ferrari, Dodge, Aston Martin and Lotus.

Tickets are now available for the British F3/GT Championships at Oulton Park on 3/5 April from £17 for adults, with free entry for children aged 12 and under. For more information call 0870 950 9000 or click on the link below.
